FOLD, a Paper-Crane Meme Token Paired With the AAPL Stock Token, Launches on Robinhood Chain as an Experiment in Radical Transparency

Fixed supply, permanently locked liquidity, no admin keys and a public creator wallet; live Sunday night, three days before Apple's foldable-phone event

PARIS, Sept. 6, 2026. FOLD, a community meme token whose mascot is an origami crane, launches Sunday at 11:30 p.m. CEST on Robinhood Chain, where it trades in a liquidity pool against Robinhood's AAPL Stock Token. The launch lands between the week's two biggest stories in markets and technology: the boom in memecoins paired with tokenised stocks, and Apple's first foldable phone, expected at the company's "Surprise and Shine" event on Wednesday, Sept. 9.

FOLD is not a tokenised stock. It does not represent, hold or follow Apple shares, and it is not affiliated with Apple, Robinhood or any company. It is a fixed-supply token launched on PAIR, the launchpad that pairs new tokens with Robinhood Stock Tokens: the whole supply went into one Uniswap v4 pool against the AAPL Stock Token, and every liquidity position is locked permanently in PairV4Locker, a contract with no withdraw function. The creator has no administrative function over the token or the pool. The only fee on a trade is PAIR's 1% swap fee, split 70% to the creator and 30% to PAIR, and every creator claim is published with an explorer link. The creator's wallet is public, holds only FOLD bought in the open at launch, and is pledged not to sell before Oct. 5.

"Everyone spent this week arguing about what a stock token is. I wanted to launch the most honest possible version of the other thing, the meme," said the creator, a pseudonymous builder based in Paris. "FOLD has no owner, no roadmap and no promises. What it has is a paper crane, a public wallet and a joke about the fold. Every claim I make is on the explorer."

The pairing is the story of the week. On Sept. 2, memecoins paired with stock tokens on Robinhood Chain traded $217 million, more than the $127 million of direct stock-token trading, according to CryptoSlate and Decrypt. AMC Entertainment chief executive Adam Aron attacked Robinhood's AMC Stock Token on Sept. 3 and 4, and AMC shares jumped 21%. FOLD takes the opposite approach to the tokens that rode that fight: it says plainly what it is not, and publishes everything.

The ritual is the other half. Holders fold a real paper crane, photograph it and post it with #stayfolded. Every crane is counted on a "thousand crane wall" on the project's website, a nod to senbazuru, the Japanese tradition that folding a thousand cranes grants a wish. Earlier that Sunday, Sept. 6, an installation of 1,000 orange paper cranes went up in Paris, hours before the token existed.

The taglines are "Paper hands? We fold paper." and "Markets close. Cranes don't." The second refers to stock tokens trading around the clock while U.S. markets are closed from Friday's close through Monday's Labor Day holiday.

FOLD makes no statement about price and describes itself as an art-and-market experiment. Meme tokens mostly go to zero, and the project's disclosure page says so.
